Mr. Watler is a Caymanian Attorney-at-Law and Notary Public who founded his law firm WATLER LAW in 2016 after decades of experience at Senior Associate, Partner and of Counsel level at two magic circle offshore law firms. His wide-ranging practice includes advising on all aspects of employment law. He is a past Chairman of the Labour Appeals Tribunal and has also served in the following capacities:
- Deputy Chairman, Refugee Protection Appeals Tribunal
- Supervisory Committee of the Cayman Islands Civil Service Association Cooperative Credit Union
- Former Member, Cayman Islands Constitutional Commission
- Deputy Chairman of the Cayman Islands Mental Health Commission
- Chairman, Joint Committee of the Cayman Islands Law Society and Caymanian Bar Association to review the draft Data Protection Bill
- Vice-President, the Caymanian Bar Association
- Past Deputy Chairman, Planning Appeals Tribunal
- Past Chairman, Legislation Sub-Committee of the Cayman Islands Government’s E-Business Advisory Committee (in that capacity was instrumental in the drafting of the Electronic Transactions Law)
- Chairman of the Immigration Appeals Tribunal, 2005 – 2009
- Chairman of the Cayman Islands Government Negotiating Team 2005 - 2008 (to negotiate a new legal framework and lower rates for the electricity sector in Grand Cayman and to negotiate new licences for the local utility company, Legal consultant on various projects for the Cayman Islands Government)
- Caymanian Bar Association’s Constitutional Review Committee 2009
Olivaire was the first recipient of the Young Caymanian Leadership Award in 2000.
Mr. Watler was appointed on 3 October 2019 for a period of 3 years. Mr. Watler resigned effective 4 May 2023.
